      1. In the EU, Apple will replace the Safari icon in the dock (the "hotseat") if the user chooses a different default browser. Gruber then basically explains why this is a good thing, but draws the opposite conclusion. 1/2

      So yeah, many users will just tap the Safari icon, unaware of which browser that is. They may have actually set a different browser as the default. But, as Gruber writes, users may simply not be tech-savvy enough to understand that the Safari icon !== their default browser. 2/2

    Also, 14 years of not being able to set a default, has trained people to just use the Safari icon, as that was the browser that opened every link in every app anyway. 3/2 🤔
