        @Jay5w @nic_o_martin They'll have to allow 3rd party engines anyway. Installed web apps do not pose any extra security risk afaik. And I think it's debatable whether Android is less secure, especially Chrome and/or Firefox on Android compared to Safari on iOS.

      @Jay5w @nic_o_martin Apple thinks* it needs to do all this extra work to isolate browser engines from the OS, but browsers have proven they can do it without Apple's help. * or rather, is trying to make us believe

    @Jay5w @nic_o_martin Take meltdown/spectre; chrome was able to mitigate that at the browser level faster than the OSes could (Except on iOS because WebKit relies on the OS for much of its security and Chrome on iOS has to run on WebKit)
