      1. This seems a bit unfair. The Chromium team wants to block 3rd-party tracking cookies, but were told they can't by at least one Consumer Protection Agency (UK's CMA) - until Chrome comes up with an alternative. arstechnica.com/gadgets/2022/09/chromes-new-ad-blocker-limiting-extension-platform-will-launch-in-2023/

      I can't find a link to back up that story right now, but the CMA basically said that Chrome can't block 3rd-party cookies because other ad companies rely on it - and that could benefit Google Ads (as they may find ways to access your browsing history through Chrome)

    That said, I do agree that it feels like the Ads division at Google is having too much influence on other Google products.
