  1. To use your phone as a remote for your Google TV, you need to go through a Quick Settings tile (swipe down, then probably swipe some more horizontally, then press) or the Google TV app (open the app, open the remote). No shortcut/widget to launch it directly from the home screen

I tried finding the activity in the Google TV app apk file - I found it, but you can not launch it via a custom Nova Launcher widget (doesn't show up) or even start the activity directly through an Intent (throws a security exception).

Why is Google making this so hard? It's like the Assistant Snapshot shortcut. It's there, but you can't directly add the shortcut/widget to your home screen via its settings. You need to get a prompt in the Google app, and if you dismiss it, it never shows up again.

Btw, I tried clearing the Google app's settings, and I still didn't get the Snapshot shortcut prompt. I guess I'm not worthy because I disabled the Discover feed in the Google app (which is utter garbage, so glad it replaced Google Now). @Google #googleassistant #googletv

While I'm at it: The Google app added a dark theme for the Reminders section. But they didn't fix the UI that has been broken for.. years? Location reminders? Nope. But they did add a dark mode!

The Google app is a mess and it feels like the team consists of one intern developer and 6 product managers.
