Oh for f*** sake. I will admit, it does have one advantage; taskbar items will probably be closer to where your pointer is, so you win a couple of milliseconds there. Then lose a second or so to figure out which icon you need to click 😒

I'm really curious what the reasoning for this UI change is. Is there any science to back this up? Or is this yet another change because designers wouldn't have anything to do if we didn't change designs all the time?
