  1. My guess why they removed the feature? Because the Maps API requires a credit card these days and the new intern (the guy replacing the previous intern) who *is* The Hangouts Team isn't 18 yrs old yet so does not have a credit card. arstechnica.com/gadgets/2020/03/google-strips-location-sharing-from-google-hangouts/

      The Demise Of Hangouts is pretty weird. It still has a huge user base (grown over 15 yrs of Google Talk and Hangouts) but Google kept piling on bloat and then, instead of fixing it, abandoned it. ..well, except for that one intern they keep on "The Team".
